Can Genius be learned? In John Cloud's article he explains the possibilities of Genius being learned by working hard and also by your personality. Cloud talks in the article how society needs to help shape people into geniuses and not just expect it to happen. Cloud talks about putting in hard work to learn to be a genius, in this fact he means that if more people actually tried to learn things they could become intelligent. In reading this article I could apply this to my genius hour project by putting in the work it takes to learn the things I need to know, then I may learn more over all.
The video of Ken Robinson’s ted talk shows many viewpoints on how education is in today's world. I agree with the views he has on how education should be less tests and more about how we learn and try to make kids enjoy what they learn. He also talks about how a leader knows that education is more than just testing. Then he mentions that other countries have figured out that there education is based on their work feilds and how they benifit substatialy from this.
I see many ways from this video that I could learn to present my ted talk in a much better way. I like how he is free with audience and makes jokes and is also very well educated on the topic he is presenting. He presents his talk in a formal way and I thought it was very professional and well rounded. In the article ‘How Geniuses Think’ the author interprets geniuses to think productively and not reproductive, the author's way of looking at it was quite similar to the definition. The definition states that geniuses have “exceptional intellectual power or other natural ability”. Shared strategies of a genius are that they think “how many ways can I look at it”, and “how can I rethink the way I see it” they like to see things in different viewpoints from how others see them. My genius hour project allows me to use these strategies in a way that I can see the other ways and information about lifting. I also can use them in designing my website by making it different and trying to think “outside of the box” while making it to make it.
The Article “Genius hour, What kids can learn from failure” is mainly about taking your thoughts and instead of keeping them to yourself, put them to use and speak them out loud. Use your thoughts and don’t be afraid to fail, use failure as a tool not an obstacle. This article shows how genius hour makes learning more fun and effective. I can apply this to my own genius hour by stepping out of my comfort zone and leaping into something new. Making my project better will only work if I go this extra step instead of doing nothing and this will be a much better learning experience.
I plan to thru the next three months, create a website people can learn valuable information about exercise and what supplements to take. I would like to show people proper ways to complete exercises and make sure people don’t get hurt while working out. Also I thought about making workout plans for people who are maybe just starting out and don’t know where to start. I would also like to show people that investing in your body is one of the best investments you can make.
